V. Bede Agocha

Assistant Professor-In-Residence of Africana Studies and Psychological Sciences


Dr. V. Bede Agocha is Assistant Professor-in-Residence with joint appointments in the Africana Studies Institute, the Department of Psychology, and the Honors Program at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Agocha’s research interests include inter-groups conflict, and individual psychology of prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination.

He received his Ph.D. in 2001 from Missouri-Columbia; and a Master of Arts, a Master of Science and a Bachelors degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. Professor Agocha is the author of numerous articles in the field of behavioral psychology and teaches courses in Black Psychology and the dynamics of inter-group relations.

He is a member of American Psychological Association (APA), American Psychological Society (APS), Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP), Society for Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), and Division of Health Psychology-Law Society.
