Giving

Private support from donors gives the Africana Studies Institute an edge for excellence, allowing us to reward top scholarly efforts and to competitively recruit students and faculty.

Our Funds

Gifts to the Africana Studies Institute are used for undergraduate scholarships, and for engagement activities like seminars, guest lectures, and community outreach. A gift may support an existing scholarship or fund, or it may create a new fund for current needs or an endowment to support programs into the future. Gifts may be made in honor of a faculty member or friend.

Africana Studies Institute Fund

Gifts to the Institute for Africana Studies Institute Fund provide support for programs at the Africana Studies Institute.

Drs. Barbara and Carlton Molette Scholarship Fund

Gifts to the Drs. Barbara and Carlton Molette Scholarship Fund provide scholarship support for continuing undergraduate students enrolled full-time in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who demonstrate academic achievement and are majoring in African American Studies.

The scholarship helped to pay for the fees that were on my student account, which was a relief considering the impact the pandemic had on me,” she said. “I had lost my job and was dealing with the news of so many things being canceled and people passing away. This helped me pass my senior year and graduate. I am forever grateful for the Molette scholarship
